Description: I’ve been into antiques for a while, and went through a major music phase a couple years ago when I bought an antique upright piano and a couple of nice furniture pieces from the 20’s. I had planned on getting an Edison Phonograph with a big fat awesome horn, but moved out of the phase and then had no money for such excursions.
While perusing vintage-recordings.com for would-be birthday requests, Rob thought to ask his audiophile friends about where to find vintage recordings online. After a nice search on archive.org, and about 12 hours of time, I’ve started the beginning of a nice collection of 288 mp3s and counting, and share with you the first playlist I’ve thrown together.
Many of these recordings made onto wax cylinders were before the invention of the microphone (in 1925). I find them totally fascinating. I’ve decided instead to ask for a phonograph for my birthday. 🙂
