Your Feedback

I treasure the affect I am allowed on those who have appreciated my music over the years. I am honored by the affirming words gifted to me by the authors on this page, and I hope to in turn honor them by keeping those words alive here.

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to be these things for you all, and I am still completely amazed by the supportive, favorable nature of all the correspondence I’ve received based upon my music. I am humbled, and I am still here, if you want to talk with me.

Long time ago i opened my ears to this wonderful sound. It’s melodies and vocals helped me through adolescence and depression, gave me strength in a way as well, this music will forever be etched in my own growth. Thank you and i plan to order the disk if more are available.

Hello Courtnee,

I received your album last week, and I want to say — Wow!  It is absolutely
wonderful.  I had vacillated about buying it, since I had only heard a few
of your songs and it was $32, but I am glad I purchased it!  (It’s actually
the most expensive album I’ve ever bought.)  I’m really enjoying it.

Every song on that album is fantastic.  I just wanted to send an email to
say thanks!

I fell madly in love with your music back when mp3.com was a free site. A got some of my friends into it and you had quite a following out here until the site went pay only and we lost access lol
Now i need to scrap together some money to get your music back out here again 🙂

A very, very well-wrought CD. I already had a few of your songs (from Point
of Origin, mostly, but some odds and ends as well), and it was nice to hear
them here and there, mixed in with the newer ones. Very evocative
soundscapes, as always, and a powerful voice resonating through them. Very
fine work indeed.

So thank you for the prompt expedition, and I’ll definitely be keeping an
eye on your future endeavours.

Take care,

Greetings Courtnee, I’ve been enjoying the CD a lot, especially while driving.

Equilibrium is my favorite by far. It’s hypnotic and addictive, a perfect balance of awed discovery, melancholy, and peaceful acceptance.

Improv Vocals would be the opening title music to the never-to-be-filmed movie of my epic never-to-be-written novel (it’s about nuns). A red mermaid trailing flames and sparks swims lazily through blackness, while the credit names appear as glowing embers burning though the dark surface.

Infinite Reality seems to tell of an adventurer starting out on a great journey in earnest enthusiasm, quickly confronted and defeated by the reality of the boundless void, but rescued from despair by a merciful and eternal spirit of the infinite who escorts the traveler through its vastness.

I Put a Spell on You reminds me of the movie Let the Right One In. Is There Anybody Out There and Sepulture are also favorites.

While learning Turkish, we learned of “back vowels” (ah, oh, oo) and “front vowels” (eh, ee). This is how I think of your two distinct voices. Random Crap and Sepulture would be the “back” voice, and Last Breath the “front” voice….I prefer the back voice, for what that’s worth.

It’s a box of jewels. We are all blessed.

Beautiful music, i’m particularly fond of convergence, threshold and
Sepulture. It’s digs deep enough into me so that even when friends are

So I was looking over your photos over at Devient art and one piece inspired me (I to am an artist of sorts). No Tomorrow was a wonderful composition and very moody. Hello. I’ve been listening to a few of your songs (on repeat, something I NEVER
do), and I just wanted to say you have exactly what I needed. I’m writing a
book, and the colour (I’m sure you know what I’m talking about) of a few of the
scenes was off. They were really giving me some shit.

I listened to the “mystere” remix first, and I just had it. Your songs have the
quality I wanted for my book, the “last gasp into the abyss” sort of feeling. I
sat here and wrote for 3 hours (writer’s cramp. yay!), and it’s coming out so
beautifully. If this book were a movie, I’d want you to do a soundtrack.
Thanks for your time. and for the music.

listened to atonement. I liked how the piano is keeping it together, and its
interesting how it starts off simple and gets added to with more notes inbetween
the 2 chords. No actually the mysteriously interesting sound that makes this
song is those layed vocals that sound like there sung in an old open spaced
cathedral. it might of sounded better if the reverb was also attached to the
piano, and if the piano was turned down into the mix. Opinions provided by

Oh my God, oh my God!!
That’s what I’m looking for!
(Sorry for my bad English, but I’m a hungarian guy, from Eastern-Europe…)
Thanks for making this great site on mp3.com – if you don’t make this, I never
heard of you and your absolutely fascinating music.

(I don’t flatter you, this is really one of the most beautiful musics I ever
heard, and until this time I never wrote any artists on mp3.com!) To my great
regret, this is the only way to get your beautiful-beautiful music – my country
has no CDs from you, but it’s the same, because I have no money to buy it…
(This is a poor country…)
So, you ALONE make this great, atmospheric sound and the really amazing vocal? A
great future stands before you…
And that melodies… If I hear one of your songs (mostly Convergence and
Divergence), I get very tranquil and _strange_ feelings. I’m a graphician and a
writer in fantastic genre, so I need this feelings…
So, what can I say? Make further this great music, and don’t give up to realize
yourself. You have the talent, intensity and imagination for it, more than much
other well-known artists.
Thanks, again!

Greetings… I’ve been following your music for awhile now, and I believe I have
the courage to ask you about a possible collaborative effort.

I’m the leader of a loose collaborative of artists who work on instrumental art
interpretations. I have a deep love of the ambient and symbolic, and I love your
haunting vocalizations. I’m currently recording a new album with my group, The
Seraphi, and I was wondering if you’d care to provide your beautiful vocals to a
few tracks. I understand you are busy with many re-mixes with many other
artists, but I’m asking for your efforts in a songwriting collaboration.

If you’re not interested, I completely understand, as I know many of us artEEsts
are occupied with influences other than our craft. However, I’d be deeply moved
if you show an interest.

Our homepage is located at: http://www.dyspepsidisc.com/

The Seraphi (me, myself, and I, for the most part) is a loose unification of my
many musical influences, from modal jazz to prog-rock to trip-hop. Keeping with
the angelic theme, I tend to do interpretations of religious stories, however, I
am no means a religious person. I just like to illustrate these wonderful myths
with music.

Thank you for your beautiful music,

Hello, I’ve been going through some old music in my.mp3.com-just listening to a
second or two of each song and moving on. But then, I came across Divergence.
I started listening to it and it would simply not let go! I must say that it is
amazing!

Also, I love the train tunnel photo. I think it should be the cover of an
upcoming album.

Thank you for your music,
~Cody Sain

Courtnee,
Hi, I have been listening to some of your songs. You have such a beautiful
voice, it’s very soothing. I think you might be onto a new sort of style,
something that I have always wanted to create. You really remind me of my
favorite band Dredg (www.dredg.com), that was not a plug, I really really like
how you use so much reverb on your voice. Got any advice for someone like me
who is just starting out on mp3.com? I would really love to hear from you, you
have such an amazing voice.

Hi

erm…well i found your page for the first time yesterday i downloaded ‘mystere’
and got kind of inspired, so i remixed it. I was gonna upload it to my mp3.com
account but i decided this was rude (as i had not asked your permission for the
sounds). I have put it on my www.netdrive.com account if you wouldn’t mind
having a listen.

it’s in the ‘miscellaneous stuff’ folder. Hope you like it, it’s sort of ambient
hip hop i guess, with your vocals cut up and pitched around to make most of the
melodies.

Props to you from the UK for your great voice and judging from this picture over
here < -remarkbly long fingers... 😉 cheers dan ---------------------

Hi, I was just linked to your page from ‘ismokecrack.com’ (wandering aimlessly across the net) and I just want to say that I really enjoyed your songs on mp3.com. While I do listen to some mellower stuff, I generally find myself drawn to the heavier end of the electronic music scene. (Front Line Assembly or :Wumpscut: for instance). I wonder if you would be interested in my doing a remix of your song Mystere? I am not interested in ripping off anyone’s sounds or vocals or anything like that, and I’ve done a number of remixes for other (small) mp3.com bands such as ‘TheSarcasm’, ‘Kilodelta’ and ‘Coded’.
I really enjoyed the vibe of Mystere, and have some interesting ideas for a semi-club oriented version of this track of yours. If you are interested, you can email me back at jasonbrettwalter@hotmail.com, or if you would like to check out some of my original ‘compositions’ hit http://www.mp3.com/thoughtcrime. (I’m a 1984 freak)
At any rate, great tunes, and keep up the good work, hope to hear from you soon.

wow.. i REALLY like your work.
i just thought i’d drop you a line and let ya know that.

… i was thinking of doing a remix of one of your tunes. (not sure which one, i
haven’t listened to them all yet.. .) i have many projects on the go, but i
would probably do it under my “noCore” guise – (mp3.com/nocore) – check out the
track ‘shutDown’.
… i’ve been experimenting with a lot of abstract layering techniques and the
combination of your voice and piano would sound astounding … (not that it
doesen’t already.. but i love doing remixes!)

anyways.. just thought i’d reaffirm in your mind that you are extremly talented
and beautiful!

keep up the great work!

VERY original, I personally have never heard anything even close to it. I have many ideas for songs that I will begin production on this fall, and your voice would be perfect for some of these ideas. Hopefully you would be up for compilating with me on some of my songs that I will release, I could really use a voice that is as beautiful and harmonious as yours. Excellent job with your song writing so far, I was very impressed. I hope that we will be able to speak more. =) Thank you for your time…

ok, heard some of the stuff you put on mp3.com
however, I decided to check your “not applicable” site (out of curiosity
and sheer boredom more than anything), and heard some of your old stuff,
liked that cover of stevie nicks’ tune and a couple other, and I didnt
think your voice was all that sucky at all, as a matter of fact it
sounds quite good.
I’m not sure what your reasons are for hiding behind special efx, maybe
you’re trying to convey a different mood with hushy vocals (specially on
your newer DCDish stuff) I cant quite tell. I’d assume is because you
feel more comfortable listening to y our own voice while its being
washed over by tons of reverb. the downside to that is that it keeps you
from projecting your voice basically, you dont get to muscle out your
voice or know which really are your limits.
the way efx works in recording, is that most people laid down dry tracks
and apply efx later on at mixdown, it never goes wet straight to tape,
not quite sur eif yo u know anything about recording technique, but
that’s how it usually works.

I’d say, just let it out and stop hiding or being conscious about how it
goes out.
just commenting on something i sensed in your voice.

good luck which whatever route you choose

I just write to say that your work is awesome. I’ve been making Ambient music myself for 3 years. I loved your work and i think it’s some of the most mesmerizing music I’ve ever heard. Especially the vocals. I’d love to work with you some day. If you’d like to hear an excerpt of my work please go to: http://www.mp3.com/jorgecastro Thanks for sharing your music and take care, – Jorge Castro From: DCreagh@aol.com To: “Not Applicable” Subject: MP3.com viewer email Date: Mon, 22 Nov 1999 I was just listening to your song (Infinite Reality). I like the title, very telling. You have a lovely voice and I like the ambience in the song! I hope you release your album sooner that later, I would buy it! I hope to begin producing my own music some day. Although, I won’t be singing. I love MP3, there’s so much cool music!! And I like the fact that it’s made by people who love music and want to experiment with sound and share their talent. Take it easy and keep recording. David in Denver From: mateo@mp3.com To: “Not Applicable” Subject: MP3.com viewer email Date: Fri, 19 Nov 1999 Yay! You entered the Electronic charts at #15 and the Ambient charts at #2! This is really terrific. From: monkey_boy@usa.com To: “Not Applicable” Subject: hey Date: Fri, 19 Nov 1999 Hey there. I really enjoyed Infinite Reality, you have a beautiful voice. I was wondering if you would ever consider lending your vocal talents to a track or two on another band’s album…I do solo shit like you, mostly electronica, only problem is, I don’t have an airy, mystical voice. Partly because I’m a guy and partly because I smoke too many cigarettes, but I’d be happy to send you a track to see if you’re into my style, or if you just want to give me some feedback on it. Well, I’m sure I’ve occupied enough of your time so see you later…Keep making music, there’s a shortage of beautiful, musically inclined women in the world. -TJ From: Marc@eEye.com To: “Not Applicable” Subject: hi Date: Thu, 18 Nov 1999 Nice website and music. Date: Thu, 18 Nov 1999 Hey! Saw you got a featured spot on mp3.com – congrats! I’m an amateur tracker (mostly beats right now until I can get at least a midi-outputting keyboard) and Infinite Reality and Untitled are my chill-out-and-meditate songs right now (a big compliment since for me that’s been pretty much a cycle between Clannad and Enya for, oh, five years, with some Slainte mixed in recently… 🙂 ) But those two just captivated me. …

I listened to your little rendition of the Brave Heart Theme and loved it. It
gave me chills. You say there that if someone wants to use it in a song they
could e-mail you. Well that’s what I’m doing. I just made a very simple little
tune with your vocals. I added some high and low pitch changes, a weird sample
and a simple trip hop beat. You said it could be used as a trance song but i
felt trip hop when i heard it. My attemt isn’t anything spectacular but you
might like it. Tell me how i can get it to you.

Wow. Your music is awesome. I just discovered one of your tunes while going
through our database. I’ve already chosen one of your songs to be the Featured
Song in Electronic for two days, starting November 3rd… it’s well-deserved.

On a personal note, I’ve had a really rough life lately… and your wonderful
music actually brought tears to my eyes. It felt good. Thanks- *@mp3.com

Hi Nee!

Just wanted to drop a note to say how much I enjoyed listening to your
music….I was surfing mp3.com and found the stuff you have online there.
It’s after midnight here, cool and dark, the wind coming in the window,
lights low, just my monitor flickering, and Infinite Reality caressing my
brain through the Sony headphones. Not a bad thursday night. 🙂

Thanks again, I look forward to your future work.
